Understand all the data sources you can use to create segments for personalization

Updated over a week ago

Mutiny integrates with several different first party and third party data sources to give you a wide range of actionable data. This article will give you an overview of each data source.

Third Party Data Sources

IP Enrichment (Clearbit Reveal)

Mutiny integrates with Clearbit Reveal to provide firmographic attributes for anonymous visitors. The most commonly used attributes from IP enrichment are industry, company size, company tags, and tech stack. Check out our guide to setting up your Clearbit Reveal integration here.

IP Enrichment (6sense)

Mutiny integrates with 6sense, allowing you to use your 6sense data in your Mutiny segments and experiences. In addition to firmographic attributes like industry and company size, you can also use your 6sense segments, profile fit, and buying stage data. You can read more about setting up your 6sense integration here.

Email Enrichment (Clearbit Enrichment)

For customers that have Clearbit Enrichment, Mutiny can enrich emails that are passed through Segment or the Mutiny API. This allows you to create segments using role or seniority attributes.

Mutiny Data Sources

Behavioral Audiences

Configure custom, reusable audiences defined by visitor browsing behaviors. You can define use case, persona, vertical and buying stage. More info here.

Behavioral Targeting

You can personalize your website by segmenting visitors based on their behavior on the site. Mutiny supports the following attributes - URL visited, UTM parameters, conversion event, number of sessions and component answers. Check out this detailed article on how to get started with behavioral personalization.

UTM Parameters

Mutiny integrates out of the box with UTM parameters - Source, Campaign, Term, Medium, and Content. UTM parameters provide context on user's search intent, advertising campaign, or referral source. No integration is needed.

Geo Location

Mutiny provides city, state and country geo targeting out of the box. This is most useful for promoting local events, showcasing regional expertise, and highlighting locationalized value props. No integration is needed.

Device Type

You can use device type in your segment definitions to differentiate desktop from mobile experiences. No integration is needed.

Referrer

Create segments based on the previous page the visitor saw before hitting your site.

Component

Create a questionnaire using Mutiny's side pop or modal components and use the visitor's response as a data source.

All Traffic

If you just want to run a simple A/B test for all traffic - we got your back!

First Party Data Sources

Salesforce

When you integrate Salesforce and Mutiny, you can use any data field from any table as a data source in Mutiny. You can map your Accounts, Contacts, Leads, and/or Opportunities tables and as many fields within each table as are relevant. Most people include name, title, customer status, stage of funnel, product/plan type, use case, industry, and number of employees. Learn more about how it works and how to implement.

Marketo

Integrate Marketo to create segments based on Marketo attributes and dynamically insert Marketo variables into your experiences. Learn more about how it works and how to implement.

Hubspot

The Hubspot integration allows you to create segments using Hubspot attributes, and dynamically insert Hubspot variables into experiences. Learn more about how it works and how to implement.

Segment

If you use Segment, you can use any Segment Trait as a data source in Mutiny. This generally includes user name, title, use case, and plan type. Learn more about how it works and how to implement.

Mutiny API

Using the Mutiny API, you can send any first party data you want to use for personalization to Mutiny. Most Mutiny customers who do not use Segment use the Mutiny API to send user emails on sign up/log in to enrich using Clearbit Enrichment or your own Salesforce data. Learn more about how it works.

CSV

Upload any CSV into Mutiny as a data source for your outbound campaigns. Most commonly, outbound CSV data includes first name, last name, company name, title, email, website, industry, company size, and use case. It may also include SDR/AE assigned to the account and their calendar booking link to personalize the CTA. Learn more about how to upload CSV data for outbound personalization.
